It’s a 19^th century, freestanding stone house in Lherm – a small, medieval village surrounded by forest in the Lot valley region in France’s southwest. The village is surrounded by forest and walking tracks. Centrally heated throughout, the house includes a sunny, south-facing kitchen; an open-space living room (with fireplace) and dining room opening on to a terrace that spans the front of the house; two bathrooms, four generously proportioned sunny bedrooms and a large open-space light-filled attic. An interior well combines with the town’s water system to provide water to the house (the system can be switched from town to well water with the flick of a switch).

My internet connection seems to be behaving this morning, so I'm happy to take you to France today.
While renovating this house in Lherm, in France's Lot valley region, Susan Fraser and Jean-Pierre Grousset took pains in preserving its 19th century style, but managed to brighten up the building's once dark interiors.

Renovated Mill in France

Good morning my friends! I will be taking a short holiday today and I'll be back on Wednesday next week. I might post once or twice but, you know, as I'll be in Rio de Janeiro I'll have to go to the beach (poor me!).

It took Noël et Rozenn Bernasconi four years to renovate this seventeenth century mill, located in the south of France. It was quite a challenge as it had been vacant for several years and was in a sorry state. Let's enjoy the tour together!














To preserve the history of the mill, Noël has retained and enhanced the original features, such as the grinding wheel, which is the starting point for the new staircase. A glass pane covers the mechanism, preserved below.

Renovated Victorian Barn

A mix of French and Gustavian styles throughout this renovated mid-Victorian barn, which was a working farm building until it was converted in the 1980s. Recently, new owners Christina and Nigel Dickinson gave it a complete internal makeover.

Renovated Home in Spain

Spanish designer Luisa Montes is responsible for these interiors, mixing classic and contemporary styles. This renovated home is located in San Sebastián in the north of Spain and was built in 1929.




An antique Kilim rug from Iran, defines the reading area which benefits from the natural light streaming in through the balcony doors.


The painting by Andres Nagel in the dining room set the colour palette for these rooms. White walls, grey fabrics and black gauze curtains.






Another antique Kilim rug lies before the chaise longue in one of the halls.


In the same hall two reproductions of English oak armchairs stand under a portrait by Thyra de Ullman.


Wishbone chairs in the kitchen. A bit too modern and minimalist for my taste.

Renovated Townhouse in England

This 16th-century house in Essex was renovated by Elizabeth Lloyd-Day and her husband Carl and won the Best Townhouse category in Period Living Readers’ Awards 2010.
I have posted nearly 500 house tours on Inspiring Interiors but this is the first time I've seen an all pink kitchen. Quite unusual but I think it looks pretty, feminine and romantic. However, I can't imagine my husband and 5 sons feeling comfortable in it! Would you paint your kitchen pink? I'd love to know what you think!
